Sunscreen & Blockout Roller Blinds

The everyday answer for brand-new glass — sunscreen where the view matters, blockout where a room needs true dark, sized to openings that have never had a blind fitted before.

01

Two fabrics, two jobs

Sunscreen fabric — usually 3%, 5% or 10% openness — cuts glare and UV while keeping the view visible through the weave. The lower the percentage, the more heat and glare it stops, at the cost of a little clarity. A 3–5% weave is the standard choice for the big, north- and west-facing glass most Helderfontein homes are built around.

Blockout fabric does the opposite job: total dark for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, plus a genuine insulating layer against summer heat and winter cold. It's the fabric to reach for anywhere the goal is "no light at all," not "less light."

02

Double roller, one bracket

Most Helderfontein bedrooms end up running a double roller — blockout for night, sunscreen for day, on the same headrail. It's the practical middle ground between wanting the view during the day and actually sleeping in on the weekend.

03

Control options, chosen for the size of the opening

Chain control with a wall-anchored tensioner as standard, spring-assist for a lighter action, or fully motorised for wide sliders and double-volume glass — see our note on motorised automation for linked, multi-blind runs across an open-plan living wing.

  • Suits full glass walls and stacking doors as well as smaller bedroom windows
  • Budgets run from entry fabrics through to premium sunscreen weaves
  • Cassette or pelmet valances hide the tube, fascia colour-matched to your new frames
Very wide spans — beyond roughly 3m of unbroken fabric, common on the entertainment side of a new-estate open-plan build — need either a central join line or a second, linked blind. We'll flag it at the measure, not after the order's placed.
Where we fit these

Sunscreen and blockout rollers are the most-fitted product on this corridor — specified in homes from the moment glazing goes in, across Fourways, Dainfern, Broadacres & Cedar Lakes and Steyn City as much as inside Helderfontein Estate itself.
