The thirteenth job — repairs

Blind Repairs & Servicing

Not every window we visit is brand-new. For the established homes around the estate — and the odd builder's casualty inside it — we restring snapped cords, replace seized mechanisms and tilters, and re-fit blinds after painting. If a blind is beyond saving, we say so and quote a replacement honestly.

Why it works here

A brand-new build carries more of the light than an established one.

  1. No trees to help yet

Helderfontein's gardens are as new as the houses. Until the landscaping matures, full-height glass takes the highveld sun with nothing outside to filter it — the blinds carry more of that job here than they would in an older, leafy suburb.

  2. Estate guidelines apply to exteriors

Exterior products are specified in profiles and colours the estate's architectural guidelines expect, with the documentation typically needed for an approval submission.

  3. Wired in before the plaster's dry

Motorised and concealed systems are cheapest and cleanest to specify while the electrician and ceiling contractor are still on site — not after the fact.

  4. Measured around your move, not around ours

We can work from approved plans once your occupation date is confirmed, and finish the final fit once the rest of the trades are out of the house.

The Helderfontein Window Brief

We wrote down what the highveld sun actually does to a brand-new house on this estate, elevation by elevation — including the clauses in the estate's own architectural guidelines that decide what may go on the outside of your glass.

  • The real numbers: 87.7° overhead in December, 40.8° in June, and a 243° summer sunset
  • What we would fit on each elevation — and the honest trade-off with every one
  • The two products the estate's rules quietly take off the table here
  • Five things we still have to check standing in the room

How it works

Four steps. Timed around your build, not ours.

No showroom trek, no guessing sizes off a floor plan — the consultation happens in the house itself.

01

Tell us about your build

Two minutes on the enquiry form: your occupation date, room count, and what's bothering you about the glass.

02

Free in-home measure

A consultant visits with samples once you've got keys, measures precisely and matches fabrics to each room's real light.

03

Written quote, per window

Itemised, honest, with a manufacturing lead time stated upfront. No obligation, no pressure calls.

04

Made to order & fitted

Manufactured for your exact openings and installed cleanly — timed around the last of your other trades.

Where we work

Helderfontein first. The rest of the corridor too.

Questions

Asked at almost every measure.

We haven't moved in yet — can you measure before transfer?+

Often, yes. Once glazing is installed we can do a provisional measure from site (with the builder's permission), or work from your approved plans to get manufacturing started. We confirm final measurements once you have keys and before installation, so nothing is cut to a guess.

Will exterior awnings or venetians need estate approval?+

We specify clean profiles and estate-appropriate colours, and can supply the product documentation owners typically submit for architectural approval. Well-specified exterior systems are approved routinely in estates like Helderfontein.

Our living room is double-volume — what actually works up there?+

Motorisation, essentially. Anything above stair-void height or across a double-volume wall of glass needs a remote or app-controlled system rather than a chain — and if you're planning it before the ceiling's closed up, a concealed recess is worth considering too.

Our garden's just been planted — does that change what we should spec?+

It does. Until shrubs and trees mature, your glass gets the full afternoon load with nothing outside to soften it. We tend to weight the specification a little more toward sunscreen and exterior shading on new-estate homes than we would on an established, leafy stand.

What does the free measure and quote actually cost?+

Nothing. The measure, the samples, the consultation and the written per-window quote are free, with no obligation to go ahead.

Are the blinds safe with small children in the house?+

Chain tensioners are fitted as standard on everything corded, and we'll steer nurseries and kids' rooms toward wand, cordless or motorised options with nothing dangling to reach.

Walk the house, fill this in by hand, then type it into the form on helderfonteinblinds.co.za when you get back. Measure the width first, then the drop, in millimetres.

Pop in rough sizes and we'll send a budget range by the next working day. Not sure how to measure? Leave it blank — our consultant measures for free and you'll get exact per-window pricing either way. Entirely optional, and nothing here is binding.

Anything you enter here travels with your enquiry as plain text. No uploads, no third-party services, nothing stored anywhere else. If photographs would help, a consultant will simply ask for them in the reply.

Our consultant does five to six measures a week across Helderfontein and the estates around it, so the diary fills early — worth booking ahead if you need a particular day.

We use these details only to contact you about your enquiry (POPIA). No marketing lists, no sharing. If you tell us you're still researching, we won't call you.
